Share the Joy” Knox Christmas
Appeal
Supporting Knox families “doing it
tough” at Christmas time
Christmas can be a difficult time for families
to pay bills as well as buy food and presents. This is especially
true for people on a low income as a result of unemployment,
reduced work hours, fragile mental or physical health, increasing
rent or housing costs, and struggling with the increasing cost of
living. With the current economic climate we predict that the
demand for assistance at Christmas will increase once again in the
City of Knox.
The Knox Emergency Relief Network is a network
of agencies and organisations that provide emergency relief and
material aid such as food vouchers and food parcels to people in
financial crisis living within the City of Knox. This year
the “Network” is combine resources to expand Christmas assistance
services across Knox to “share the joy” associated with the
Christmas season.
The Knox Community Christmas Support (KCCS)
project aims to reach more families and individuals in need with a
hamper of festive food and a selection of quality gifts for
children.
This will be achieved with your support
through the “Share the Joy” Appeal.
The not-for-profit organisations involved
include, RAFT Anglican Church, Rowville Baptist Church, Hillview
Community Church Inc, Salvation Army Rowville, Mountain District
Vineyard Church, Highway Christian Church, Lions Club of Rowville,
and the Rotary Club of Boronia, Knox Infolink Inc.
The success of the project is dependant on
gaining the support of local business, schools and community
organisations around Knox.
